ATTENTIONS

I fell in love with it the moment that it hit the ground
Its silhouette had shattered upon impact

With a cry
Giving it a voice that I could memorize
Its edges spilling like waterfalls

Their crushed and tumbling shards sliding sideways across the floor
They cartwheeled into corners

And then back again
Forming a new shape

Its place upon the mantle stared back at me

Stretching and clicking with solemn inertia

As if waiting for an answer

My movements found themselves devoted to its attention

Its loving focus settled over me in a layer of soft cotton

All its pieces perfectly still pitting on mind
Making me wonder why I ever chose to throw it down
